Maybe the 3rd time will be the charm

When I was in Little Switzerland with the camera club we were told twice that the rhododendrons were blooming on Roan Mountain. I’ve always wanted to see that so Judy and I took off (the long route per my GPS) but we were too early at the end of June.

I told my hubby I wanted to go back mid-July. Well his back has been extra horrible this year and then he got a cold that just wouldn’t go away then I went thru a few days of extreme dizziness for no reason. Then between those things and the rain when we did go on the first day of summer- we were too late and the rhododendron garden was past peak.

Liquid

The camera club’s theme for July was liquid, which happened to be several of the things I had on my “shoot ideas list”.  Doesn’t everyone have one of those?

My first thought was photos of my cats, but photos for this had to be taken this year, so I decided to shoot some of the setups from my list.

I haven’t been to church on Father’s day for years as I just sit there and sob. I still tear up at the smallest things even though I try to be grateful for the 32 father’s days I did have him here with me. My dad was an awesome dad to me and I miss him something terrible.

My dad was an awesome dad to me and I miss him something terrible.

I try to remember just the happy times but I still feel cheated having him taken so soon- just 10 days after his 61st birthday. I wanted more time! I want to sit with him again and see that smile that lit up his face. Continue reading

Smoky Mountain Field Trip w. CCoH

CCoH is setting up for another record year of outings. Not sure how Mike can find and schedule this many things to see and shoot for a group! If you’re a member you also get to read Bob’s informative newsletters, and see the great videos John puts together… and that’s just a few of the perks.

This trip included Smokey Mountain Railroad in Bryson City.  I want to visit again and ride the train for my birthday this year- well that or plant a white birch tree grove.
