Pass Max Patch, taking a right at Rattlesnake Gap, in Cherokee National Forest and bouncing down the narrow 4WD necessary road/trail to Wolf Creek Falls was one of the toughest roads we’ve ever taken to a waterfall. Continue reading
Monthly Archives: September 2018
What I’m reading September 2018
I planned on getting loads of work done and my old to new computer switch completed, with no plans to read this month, but then Florence loomed threatening power outages and well, I wanted something to read. I wound up choosing mostly North Carolina authors this month!
Shape or form plus #WWPW2018
As covered up as I am, I did what I said I wasn’t going to do, and took the time to go shoot for CCoH’s “Gimme your best shot” theme this month, which was shape or form. I went back thru the newsletters to see if they elaborated on that a bit more, but didn’t see anything, so I just went with I thought qualified. Here are the three I sent.
Flea products and adverse neurologic events
I used to put Revolution flea products on both Tyler and Trinity because I was told I should, to prevent heartworm. Tyler didn’t like it but Trinity acted like you’d put something horrible on her for hours even after it dried. She hated it. She acted weird. I regret ever using it.
I probably used it for no more than a year before deciding the potential of them getting heartworm being indoor-only cats versus the problems she had with it outweighed the benefits and quit. I wish I’d never put the first dose on my cats! Here is yet another reason to keep your cats inside – as they’re less likely to get fleas and need it for it’s intended purpose.
It was years later before she had her seizures and several years after we’d seen her last seizures before she passed away unexpectedly after a clean annual checkup.
They suspected a heart or brain problem for her death and today I read this.
Historic Johnson Farms, WaterFALLing in HSF, shoulder@6 months and Florence
I think I’ve been to Historic Johnson Farms three times now but the first two were during their spring festival event. It’s open when the schools are open to the public to walk around for free and I met a photographer friend there to walk and shoot. Continue reading
Simply WOW! Water Release
I didn’t plan on missing all of my high school class reunion events but we’d already missed the water release once and I really, really wanted to see it and I thought I’d have time for both. The dam water release at High Falls at Lake Glenville on the West Fork Tuckasegee River near Cashiers is opened as a recreational water release just a handful of times each year. This year it fell on our anniversary which we missed because it was too soon after my shoulder surgery and it was released again on my birthday… Serendipitous? I thought so! Continue reading
