What I’m reading March 2019. Harper. Charles.

I’ve enjoyed Harpers‘ first two books and was looking forward to reading the third when it was released. I knew she was an Australian author and in the first two books, I didn’t really notice it in the writing. The Lost Man is set in Australia and I did notice the difference in words, and language. Celsius vs Fahrenheit.  Windscreen vs windshield. Mum vs mom. The use of Bub for baby. Nappies for diapers. Well, you get the idea. At over half way through I had changed my mind several times about what happened to Cameron but I did guess what happened before the end. There were some f-bombs dropped and they seem to increase more into the book. I started following Jane Harper on Instagram and see that they are making a move from her first book The Dry.

The cover has nice colors but nothing that really stood out to me, and the text placement in the title seems odd to me. The jacket design is by Adam Laszcuk. The jacket photographs: field © Benoit Balanca/ Getty Images; abstract powder © Chattranusorn09/Shutterstock.com. Even though the cover was kinda unremarkable in my opinion, it was the tag line really caught my interest.

“Three brothers, One Death. No answers…”

I started The North Country Confessional debut novel by Craig C. Charles is one I mentioned last month. The intriguing cover art is attributed to Clarissa Yeo at YOCLA Designs. It doesn’t specify so I have to assume she did the photographs and the design both. Hence the reason cover designers and photographers need credit. I passed one place where he took the Lord’s name in vain and haven’t picked it back up.

This month has been a whirlwind so I have not had much time to kick back and read.

I tend to like thrillers, law, mysteries or Christian based novels.  I do not want to read books where they take the Lord’s name in vain, have a lot of graphic violence, about sports and I’m really not into non-fiction history.

Here is my pinboard on NC Authors, and my post about what I think authors want you to know. I will be compiling a pinboard of books added to my “want to read” list.

There is Paperback Swap for those of us who still want to hold a real book in our hands. Here are the books I have to swap or sell. I also have  50+ credits available for purchase at $3. each.
