Tyler and Trinity

Why didn’t I think of that sooner?

Here’s an atypical short post from me 🙂 We’re still working on the land is this ridiculous heat and humidity so during my time off I haven’t really felt like sitting at a computer.

I bought Tyler raised bowls a while back (glass or ceramic only no plastic) but he also likes water in other places and I want him to have water readily available. He’s getting older, and more arthritic (and deaf). Now he doesn’t have to squat to drink.

I was going to buy a single raised water bowl but I noticed a scratcher he no longer used, so I cut the ends off to make legs and set his glass water bowl on top. I did add another one to the floor just in case he didn’t like it but he did. The only issue is when I pick up his bowl to wash and refill sometimes he tries to get his 15-pound self on top of the old scratcher and I only used Elmer’s glue to stick the legs on.

It’s my super senior (geriatric) boy’s 15th birthday today :)

He still runs and plays even if he pays for it later in the day when he overdoes it. He is still the neediest velcro cat we’ve ever adopted and I couldn’t love him any more than I do. He’s got us both wrapped around his big ole paws. His hearing has declined a LOT, and he got a “horny nail” thing but other than those nothing has really changed drastically. His nerves have eased up on the gabapentin and he still eats and drinks normally and his coat is still shiny and kept as well as he’s always kept it.

So thankful to have shared these years as his cat mom. I truly wish his sister had lived longer!

Yes, he got his favorite treats for his photo session.

1st waterfalling day in a year for my 51st + 1st Autumn waterfall for good measure (4 days, 7 waterfalls = one long post)

I am still playing catch up from basically a year hiatus from posting on here. Once I get caught up a bit, it’ll go back to the less frequent posting, hopefully without another year-long absence. If you’re not interested in waterfalls or WNC you can skip this long one. 🙂

Prooving again that the best-laid plans are better when they’re flexible.

We have not been waterfalling since we tried to see English Falls on my last birthday… a year ago (and a year late in posting about it). This one is still delayed but not as bad. My good cameras were not really off the shelf and we didn’t go on a waterfall outing not one single time in a year as we worked on building the new house, so we planned to go for this birthday. All work and no play well, you know the saying.

Tyler’s is at his yearly part 2 – the dental.

I thought maybe if I came home and typed I’d be distracted more than sitting in my car in the (absurdly tight) parking lot, but I told them I could be back quickly. I hate him being put under for a dental but the boy doesn’t have good teeth. I also liked it better when this was one visit. One time withholding food, and an actual visit where you talked to the vet, the bloodwork was checked and he had his physical and if everything was okay they did the dental instead of having to space it out and go thru it twice. With his heart murmur and age, I’m wondering if this is the last time the benefits will outweigh the risk?

Doesn’t it look like Tyler is cuddling an all-white bunny?

August falls and fails and my 50th (over a year late in posting but left the original text)

Some of my family surprised us that they were in town. All of us went on a waterfall hike then my mom took us out for an early birthday lunch at PF Changs and dessert at Cold Slab.

We keep hitting delays on materials for the house. Delays in quotes, delays in shipping delays with delivery, and weather delays. So, I just keep sweeping the water off the slabs. Our concrete guy that took 2 of our shovels and didn’t offer to bring them back, should’ve told us he needed grade pegs! If I took someone’s tools by mistake I would’ve brought them right back with an apology.

Remember me?

Wow, how time flies when you’re working six days a week and exhausted. Kinda gave new meaning to Sunday being a day of rest because all I wanted to do after church… was sleep!

A few updates since my only (non-recall) post this year except for Tyler’s birthday. I’ll try to get back into a post here and there besides just putting up pet food recalls. I see I started one from last August that I never put up. Maybe I’ll do a flashback and post it too. Who knows. The best-laid plans and all.

You Had Me at Meow my little paperback I was motivated to write because of Trinity has been out 6 years today.

A flower that had never bloomed, bloomed at Trinity’s grave just before we moved.

Happy 14th!

Happy 14th to my sweet Tyler. It’s all of our last birthdays in this house. I put a grave marker out today at his sister’s grave. I hope whoever buys our home is respectful of that. That truly is the hardest thing for me when we move from home to home. Okay, enough with the tears. It’s a happy day that Tyler is celebrating turning 14 🙂 Now if his mom could just dry it up and go back to trying to get moved the minute we get cable at the new house. I’ve already taken Tyler to see it. He was not thrilled with it even with some of his toys there already. When we do move I have a quiet day for us planned to let him explore and get used to another home before I get to all the boxes. Both homes look like a tornado went through. Hopefully I’ll be able to do something besides working long days 6 days a week. I don’t even feel like getting my camera out. I just want to cuddle Tyler, sleep and relax with my hubby.
