Continue readingI am still playing catch up from basically a year hiatus from posting on here. Once I get caught up a bit, it’ll go back to the less frequent posting, hopefully without another year-long absence. If you’re not interested in waterfalls or WNC you can skip this long one. 🙂
Prooving again that the best-laid plans are better when they’re flexible.
We have not been waterfalling since we tried to see English Falls on my last birthday… a year ago (and a year late in posting about it). This one is still delayed but not as bad. My good cameras were not really off the shelf and we didn’t go on a waterfall outing not one single time in a year as we worked on building the new house, so we planned to go for this birthday. All work and no play well, you know the saying.
Some of my family surprised us that they were in town. All of us went on a waterfall hike then my mom took us out for an early birthday lunch at PF Changs and dessert at Cold Slab.
We keep hitting delays on materials for the house. Delays in quotes, delays in shipping delays with delivery, and weather delays. So, I just keep sweeping the water off the slabs. Our concrete guy that took 2 of our shovels and didn’t offer to bring them back, should’ve told us he needed grade pegs! If I took someone’s tools by mistake I would’ve brought them right back with an apology.

The day started when Karen and I stopped in Brevard to take photos of the horse sculptures. The theme for February’s camera club circles. Turns out they were actually made of horseshoes. I would love to have a family of these in my yard. Continue reading

I saw a photo in Our State magazine of a river bend of the French Broad River.
I wanted to photograph it.
5 hours and probably 5 “u” shaped bends being found on GPS, we found the bend.
It’s on private property and no one called me back. Continue reading
The camera club went the night before to the Pixie Forest near Graybeard Overlook on the BRP. I didn’t make that trip, but we woke up to fog and had a day we could go goof together till about midday, so we headed that way. Continue reading
Last year I was hit with being disabling dizzy. It lasted several days I remember going with my hubby to Roan Mountain before it was completely gone.
This year it hit again in the evening with no warning. That night was bad, the entire next day was so bad I felt like I had to lay down and hang on to the bed. I couldn’t do much of anything. The next day was some better, followed by the next day where I went on a photo outing with a new friend, Karen, I met at the local camera club.
I don’t really blame the new owners, but it makes me appreciate the previous owners even more than I already did! They didn’t have to share the waterfall in their backyard, yet they did. Continue reading
It was a great week! The ponies were great. The weather was perfect.
I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday. Continue reading
