What I’m reading for February and March 2018, plus a photo finalist pic

I just wanted to be home for all of March from grieving over the unexpected loss of our beloved Trinity and recovering from should surgery. I spent more time reading but as much as I wanted to really kick back and read, with my attention level after surgery I found it easier to binge watch Netflix. Now if Netflix would’ve just really sent me the DVD’s in the order they were in my list instead of skipping to a season we hadn’t gotten to yet that would’ve been even better. I wanted to try Audible but just never got around to figuring it out. I was content to zone out, watch TV with my hubby and love on Tyler.

What I’m reading for January 2018

For several years now, reading my Bible and just for fun novels has been a goal.

Up until this year though I’ve been reading mostly non-fiction books that applied to my work, and one CC Tillery novel each year as I designed the covers and they were released.

Since I think this is my first blog post on what I’m reading apart from cat books, let me start by saying what I like to read. If we don’t read the same kind of books my thoughts on what I like won’t apply to you. I tend to like thrillers, and authors like John Grisham, David Baldacci, and Greg Isles. I am not a re-reader. There are just too many books I want to read, to re-read a book. If a book takes the Lord’s name in vain I won’t finish it. Echos really bug me where they repeat the same phrase over and over. I don’t care for paranormal, sci-fi, books that tell me what to think or push an agenda, stories about rape,  evil, or extreme violence, especially against children. For some reason, I’m okay with a storyline trying to find serial killers. Yeah I know, makes no sense.

The making of the covers for the Appalachian Journey series by CC Tillery [final part 4] is for Wise Woman

Boy this post has been a long time coming!  Now we did physically build another house, move and I had other projects going but I think I’m at least a year overdue on writing the post.

The sister duo already has a new series about the Brown Mountain Lights with one out and the second one in the works. I guess I’ve just been busy with things but today while clearing out my computer files I decided to post before some of the files I had were deleted.

This one was bittersweet. It was my favorite cover but it was also the last in the series. I can tell you the end of the book required tissue.  Continue reading

My part in the making of Bill Ramsey’s cover.

Light Swirls

This cover illustration is for author Bill Ramsey.

I was hired for the front cover. Bill and his publisher ended up using my concept idea by keeping similar text and colors but using just my light swirl illustration.  Continue reading
