I have great memories of walking with my cousin after school to the YMCA or to the library. We both remember having to use the old card files and the Dewey Decimal System to locate a book, carrying a pile to the table for research pre-Google, and putting the actually books back where we got them. I really thought I posted this before but I can’t find it. I don’t typically post twice in one day, but after talking with a very helpful, always smiling librarian when I went to pick up my new book this morning, I thought I post it (again). If you’re local you know just the man I am referring to.
A blogger I follow recommended All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr so while at a recent writers group meeting at the library, I picked up a copy of it, and John Grisham’s Camino Island. Continue reading

Early December, the weather forecast was calling for Snowmageddon, so I picked up a few books from the library, both about the Appalachian Trail or AT for short.
We got about 11″ and I spent more time on the computer and clearing snow off our new trees but I started Grandma Gatewood’s Walk.
Not much – that’s what I’m reading for October, while the autumn colored outside, is calling my name. Continue reading
I planned on getting loads of work done and my old to new computer switch completed, with no plans to read this month, but then Florence loomed threatening power outages and well, I wanted something to read. I wound up choosing mostly North Carolina authors this month!
